PROJECT ZEFIRO: Renaissance Winds Blow into California
The month of August will see an unusual gathering of Renaissance wind players at St. Alban’s in Albany.
Greg Ingles, sackbut, and Dan Stillman, Renaissance reeds, will organize the concert and direct eleven advanced players of cornetto, sackbut, shawm and dulcian for the performance. The music featured comes from several wind band manuscript sources, such as the Lerma MS. and the Regensburg MS., some of which indicate the original instrument combinations used. The program will include large double and triple choir pieces by Gabrieli, Victoria, etc., as well as pieces for smaller groupings.
